The top questions we get about Google Local Services Ads and how LeadWise HQ can help.

Local Services Ads are a pay-per-lead advertising product from Google that places verified local businesses at the very top of search results above traditional Google Ads and organic listings. Unlike PPC, you only pay when a customer contacts you directly through the ad. LSAs are available across a growing range of service verticals including home services, legal, healthcare, and more.
The core difference is what you pay for. With PPC you pay per click, whether or not that click turns into a real lead. With LSAs you pay per lead: phone calls, messages, or direct bookings from potential customers. LSAs also sit above PPC ads in search results and display your business name, rating, and Google verification badge. They require a separate setup and verification process and are managed through an entirely different platform.
Your Google Business Profile (GBP) is connected to your LSA profile and shares key business information including your business name, address, and reviews. This information must match exactly between your GBP and LSA profile. Your GBP must also be verified before it can be connected to LSA. They are separate products managed in separate dashboards, but they are tightly linked and managing them as if they are isolated from each other is a common mistake.
LSA originally launched in home services: plumbing, HVAC, electrical, garage door, locksmith, and similar trades. It has since expanded into Professional Services (law, financial planning, real estate), healthcare, education, pet care, and more. Google continues to add new verticals. If you are unsure whether your industry qualifies, check the LSA help center for the full list of available verticals.
Lead cost varies significantly by vertical, market, and competition. Home services leads typically run between $20 and $80. Legal leads, particularly personal injury, can range from $150 to several hundred dollars per lead. You set a weekly budget and a maximum bid, and Google adjusts dynamically within those parameters. You only pay for leads that meet Google's validity criteria.
Google uses three core ranking factors, known as the 3 Rs: Reviews, Responsiveness, and Radius. Reviews covers quantity, quality, and recency. Responsiveness measures whether you answer the phone before it goes to voicemail. Radius refers to the width of your service area. Read Brief 001 for the full breakdown.
The most common causes are verification lapses, a dip in phone answer rates, or a competitor who has improved their profile while yours has stayed flat. Other factors include under-optimized profile settings. At LeadWise HQ, we run a custom audit to ensure your accounts are always using best practices. Most accounts we audit have four to six issues that are collectively suppressing rank, none of which are catastrophic on their own.
Advanced Verification is a Google-required credentialing process for certain high-risk verticals like locksmith and garage door. It requires submitting business documentation, verification-related photos, license and background checks. Failing verification means your ads do not run. The process has strict documentation requirements that most businesses are not prepared for. LeadWise HQ specializes in Advanced Verification as a standalone service.
Google's auto-crediting system handles invalid lead refunds automatically for clear cases like spam or duplicate calls. Not every lead you consider low quality meets Google's criteria for a credit. Common examples of leads that will not be credited include: calls received outside your business hours, customers researching prices or asking general advice, canceled bookings, customers who did not respond to your callback, and leads for service types you have listed but do not actually perform. Understanding how the crediting logic works is important for setting accurate cost expectations.
Responsiveness is measured by whether you answer before voicemail picks up. Around 60% of callers hang up within 40 to 60 seconds if they have not reached a human. The fix is operational: dedicated phone coverage during all hours you are advertising, fast routing to a live person, and no long hold queues. If you use an after-hours answering service, your LSA hours should reflect full coverage. This is not something an agency can optimize inside the dashboard it requires changes to how your business handles inbound calls.
LeadWise HQ is a specialist LSA management firm. We manage Google Local Services Ads for businesses directly and provide white-label LSA fulfillment for marketing agencies. We also offer Advanced Verification as a standalone service for businesses that need to get verified or recover from a failed verification. Everything we do is LSA-specific.
Both. We work directly with businesses in our core verticals personal injury law, home services, and multi-location or PE-backed operators. We also partner with marketing agencies as a white-label fulfillment provider, handling LSA management on behalf of their clients under the agency's brand. The two models are completely separate, and we keep them that way.
We manage the LSA accounts, you own the client relationship. We handle setup, optimization, verification, and ongoing account management. Reporting and communication can be branded under your agency. You add a high-value service to your stack without hiring or training an LSA specialist. Pricing is structured for healthy agency margins.
LeadWise was founded by someone who spent 6.5 years at Google as a Program Manager on the LSA product helping build and scale the platform from the inside. That means direct knowledge of how the ranking system works, how verification processes are evaluated, and how to navigate escalation paths that most agencies do not know exist. There is no other firm in this space with that level of platform knowledge.
Most accounts can be set up within a day, with full verification taking up to 3 days in most cases. For accounts requiring Advanced Verification, timeline depends on documentation readiness and Google's processing time. We walk every new client through a pre-submission checklist before anything is submitted to avoid the delays that come with incomplete filings. The fastest path is always starting with a complete, correct submission, and ensuring the info on your Google Business Profile is accurate.
